September 2011 Newsletter
Thank you so much for your interest, support, and prayers for our vision to open a girls' orphanage in Pune, India. As you may remember, the primary motivation for this project is to provide a safe and loving home for children whose parents have been martyred for their faith in Christ. Many of the children who lost their homes and families three years ago in the anti-Christian riots in Orissa state continue to live in abysmal conditions without adequate food, medical care, housing, or education. However, thanks to your generous support, some of these young lives are soon to be changed!
We are currently in the process of gaining custody of a group of girls who were orphaned in the Orissa violence and providing a permanent home for them in the city of Pune. Once the legal process is completed, we will open the orphanage for these girls as well as for other orphans in the area. Pastor Joseph, director of the Koinonia Fellowship Ministries of India, is the overseer of the girls' home project in Pune.
I am, personally, planning a trip to Pune, Lord-willing, to help open the girls' home and set up the infrastructure for ongoing communications and sponsorship. This will be my first visit to India, so I'm very excited to experience the culture, meet new people, learn some Marathi, and drink lots of chai!
Thanks again for your support! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
