February 2012- Prayer Requests
Thank you so much for keeping the progress toward opening a girls' orphanage in Pune in your prayers. As we anticipate bringing in the first set of girls in March/April, there is much to pray for during this time of transition and new beginnings, including the following:
-Preparation of the new building where the girls will be living, as well as reasonable cost for rent
-Smooth transition with any legal paperwork and processes related to taking the girls into our care
-Qualified, loving caretakers to commit to the various roles needed for operating the orphanage
-Spiritual and emotional support for the girls during this time of transition

December 2011 Newsletter
As the year comes to a close, it is both encouraging to look back at where we’ve been and exciting to look forward to where we are headed. It was only last February that our girls’ home launch team at Koinonia Fellowship began publicly sharing the vision God had placed on our hearts to open an orphanage in Pune, India. Since that time, people from all over the world have offered their support through praying, sharing, and giving to the girls’ home ministry, helping to make this vision become reality.
In order to give Pastor Joseph Hiwale of Koinonia Fellowship Churches in India (KFCI) the go-ahead to open an orphanage in Pune and the assurance of ongoing support, our primary financial goal this year was to raise the start-up funds plus at least three months of operating costs. With a year-end funding total of over $48,000, that is exactly what has been provided! In addition, KFCI has been granted the legal standing to establish and operate an orphanage in Pune, and requests for housing are already coming in as news of the pending girls’ home spreads throughout the area. The current plan is for Pastor Joseph to begin leasing and preparing a building in February 2012 and, Lord-willing, begin taking in orphan girls in March/April. In the meantime, we continue to pray for the children of India, particularly those in the midst of religious persecution and whose parents have been martyred for their Christian faith. In addition, our next financial goal is to raise the ongoing monthly operating costs for the girls’ home through individual sponsorships, beginning April 2012. If you would like more information about sponsoring the orphanage or other ways to get involved, please visit our How to Help page or Contact us directly.
Thanks again for your support—we are looking forward to a very exciting year. Have a safe and happy New Year!

October 2011 Update
Pastors Joseph & Ben Hiwale attended several court dates in India earlier this month enabling our organization to legally establish and manage an orphanage in Pune. Because the school year ends in mid-March, we have set February 2012 as our target for leasing and preparing a building to house the girls and will, Lord-willing, be transitioning them during the school break from mid-March through May 2012. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

September 2011 Newsletter
Thank you so much for your interest, support, and prayers for our vision to open a girls' orphanage in Pune, India. As you may remember, the primary motivation for this project is to provide a safe and loving home for children whose parents have been martyred for their faith in Christ. Many of the children who lost their homes and families three years ago in the anti-Christian riots in Orissa state continue to live in abysmal conditions without adequate food, medical care, housing, or education. However, thanks to your generous support, some of these young lives are soon to be changed!
We are currently in the process of gaining custody of a group of girls who were orphaned in the Orissa violence and providing a permanent home for them in the city of Pune. Once the legal process is completed, we will open the orphanage for these girls as well as for other orphans in the area. Pastor Joseph, director of the Koinonia Fellowship Ministries of India, is the overseer of the girls' home project in Pune.
I am, personally, planning a trip to Pune, Lord-willing, to help open the girls' home and set up the infrastructure for ongoing communications and sponsorship. This will be my first visit to India, so I'm very excited to experience the culture, meet new people, learn some Marathi, and drink lots of chai!
Thanks again for your support! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
